Shumway is an open source project that is working on an experimental web-native runtime implementation of the SWF file format that delivers vector graphics, text video and sound over the Internet. Mozilla's motivation is to advance the Open Web and for this it wants to make rich media capabilities, previously only available in Flash, also. There is also Shumway for Firefox that alllows it to play Flash using JavaScript. Apple products such as iPhones don't have Flash Player, but I have heard there are options: Someone told me Puffin Browser is helpful, and I also heard about Dolphin Browser, and maybe the Photon Browser App too (but I don't know if it works). If Shumway does become part of Firefox, Mozilla will enjoy Flash compatibility as standard without having to collaborate with Adobe. Shumway is described as a “clean” solution in that it sidesteps.

Shumway is a discontinued media player for playing SWF files. It was intended as an open-source replacement for Adobe Flash Player. It is licensed under Apache[1] and SIL Open Font License (OFL).[2][3]Mozilla started development on it in 2012.[4] It was preceded by a failed earlier project called Gordon, a JavaScript library with a similar concept and name, which interprets SWF files with onboard resources of a browser via SVG conversion.[5] These names are an allusion to Flash Gordon and Gordon Shumway.[6] Websites that sell unlocked phones.

Shumway renders Flash contents by translating Flash file contents to HTML5 elements, and running an ActionScript interpreter in JavaScript.[7] It supports both AVM1 and AVM2, and ActionScript versions 1, 2, and 3.[8] How to open keygen exe on mac.

Development of Shumway has effectively ceased.[9] Although the project remains available on GitHub (see External links), in February 2016, the project was moved to the 'Firefox Graveyard' and is thus considered defunct from Mozilla's point of view.[10] Mozilla's strategy in 2016 was to continue to support Adobe Flash, as an exception to its general policy of ceasing support for NPAPI plugins by the end of 2016.[11]

Mozilla wants to “virtualize” Flash technology, making rich Internet contents available to users without the need to install additional (and often flawed) plug-ins inside the browser. The “virtual machine” designed to achieve such a feat is called Shumway, a new open source project officially backed by the Firefox foundation.
Hosted on the open source software repository GitHub, Shumway is described as “an HTML5 technology experiment that explores building a faithful and efficient renderer for the SWF file format without native code assistance”. Originally meant as an acronym for Shockwave Flash, SWF is the default extension for multimedia/interactive files interpreted by the Adobe Flash Player.
Over the years, Flash has become more of a security risk than a multimedia plug-in and is often the butt of many jokes. Hence the idea sponsored by Mozilla: by using standard web technologies as HTML5 and JavaScript, Shumway would execute Flash code inside the browser’s own process eliminating the issue of running external, native code as the aforementioned Flash plug-in.
Halfway between an HTML5 virtual machine and a web interpreter for Flash contents, Shumway is a “community-driven” project that needs a lot of work and love from the open source developers. If the experiment of creating “a general-purpose, web standards-based platform for parsing and rendering SWFs” was successful, Mozilla would eventually integrate the code with Firefox and give Adobe web tech a means for extending its permanence even in the so-called “post-Flash” world that awaits us (or so they say) in the not-so-distant future.
